Privacy and cookie policy

Last updated: 30th September 2026

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you book a table, get in touch or use our website, what we do with it, and the cookies our website uses. We've kept it as short and plain as we can.

Who we are

Krisons is a Hungarian and Jamaican restaurant at 11 Miltons Yard, Axminster, Devon EX13 5FE. When this policy says "we", "us" or "our", it means Krisons. We are the data controller for the personal information described here.

If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us:

  • Email: info@krisons.co.uk
  • Phone: 01297 441939
  • Post: Krisons, 11 Miltons Yard, Axminster, Devon EX13 5FE

What we collect

We only collect what we need to look after you.

  • Table bookings. Your name, phone number, email address, booking date and time, party size, and any notes you add, such as allergies, dietary needs, accessibility needs or a special occasion. Online bookings are made through KuulSeats, our booking provider.
  • Private hire and event enquiries. Your name, email, phone number, event date, number of guests and anything else you tell us in the enquiry form.
  • Phone calls and emails. Whatever you choose to share with us when you get in touch.
  • Website use. Basic technical information such as your device type, browser, approximate location (town or region, not your address), the pages you visit and how you arrived at our site. Some of this is collected through cookies (see the cookie section below).

Allergy, dietary or accessibility information may count as health information. We only use it to prepare your food safely and make your visit comfortable, and only with your agreement when you give it to us.

We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. Bookings should be made by an adult.

How we use it

UK data protection law says we need a lawful reason for each use of your information. Here's what we do and why.

  • Taking and managing your booking, including confirmations and reminders. To carry out the booking you asked for.
  • Contacting you if something changes, such as a closure or a problem with your table. To carry out your booking, and because we have a legitimate interest in keeping guests informed.
  • Preparing food safely around allergies and dietary needs. With your explicit consent, given when you tell us.
  • Replying to private hire and general enquiries. To take the steps you've asked for before we agree an event.
  • Understanding how people use our website so we can improve it. With your consent, through the cookie banner.
  • Keeping records for tax, accounting and food safety. Because the law requires it.

We don't sell your information, and we won't send you marketing emails unless you've opted in. If we ever start a newsletter, we'll ask you first and every email will include an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We only share your information with companies that help us run the restaurant and the website, and only what they need to do their job.

  • KuulSeats runs our online table booking system and stores your booking details. KuulSeats has its own privacy policy, which you'll see when you book.
  • Duda hosts our website and processes enquiry form submissions.
  • Google provides website analytics (Google Analytics).
  • Our email provider, Google Workspace, stores emails you send us.
  • Square handles card payments in the restaurant. We don't receive or store your full card number.
  • MidDevon Digital maintains our website and may see enquiry form data while fixing a problem.
  • Our accountant, and authorities such as HMRC or the council, where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

  • Booking details: 2 years after your visit, so we can see if you're a returning guest.
  • Allergy and dietary notes: deleted after your visit unless you ask us to keep them on file.
  • Private hire enquiries that don't go ahead: 12 months.
  • Private hire bookings and invoices: 6 years, for tax records.
  • General emails: 2 years.
  • Website analytics: 14 months.

Keeping it safe

Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection. Access to booking and email accounts is limited to the people who need it, protected by strong passwords, and two-factor sign-in where available. Paper notes with guest details are kept out of public view and shredded when no longer needed.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can:

  • ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it
  • ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
  • withdraw consent at any time, for example for allergy notes or analytics cookies

To use any of these rights, email info@krisons.co.uk or call 01297 441939. There's no charge, and we'll reply within one month. We may need to check your identity first.

Making a complaint

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first and we'll do our best to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website saves on your phone or computer. Some are needed for the site to work. Others help us understand how people use it. We only use non-essential cookies if you say yes in the cookie banner.

The cookies we use

  • Website essentials (set by Duda, our website platform). Essential. Keeps the site working properly and remembers your cookie choice. Lasts from the end of your visit up to 1 year.
  • _ga (set by Google Analytics). Analytics. Tells visitors apart so we can count them, without identifying you. Lasts 2 years.
  • ga[ID] (set by Google Analytics). Analytics. Remembers your visit so pages are counted correctly. Lasts 2 years.

When you click through to KuulSeats to book, or to our Facebook or Tripadvisor pages, those sites set their own cookies under their own policies.

Managing cookies

You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working, but you'll still be able to see our menu, opening hours and contact details.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if anything changes, for example if we add a newsletter or a new booking system. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
