Our goat comes from OS Farming in Crewkerne, just up the road, and we buy from farms and suppliers on our doorstep wherever we can.
New to Hungaribbean food?
A quick guide to some of the dishes you'll find on our menu.
Jerk
A Jamaican way of seasoning and cooking meat with scotch bonnet, allspice, thyme and spring onion. It's traditionally cooked over wood. Kris marinates our chicken for 12 hours and cooks it over lava rocks for the same deep, smoky flavour.
Paprikash
A Hungarian stew slowly cooked in a sweet paprika sauce and finished with soured cream. It's often confused with goulash, which is a paprika soup or stew without the soured cream.
Curry goat
One of Jamaica's best loved dishes, often cooked for celebrations. Goat is marinated, then slowly cooked in a curry gravy with ginger and scotch bonnet until tender.
Nokedli
Small, soft Hungarian egg dumplings, a bit like spätzle. They're the classic partner for paprikash.
Lángos
Hungarian fried bread, crisp at the edges and soft in the middle. In Hungary it's a favourite street food.
Rice and peas
A Jamaican staple. The "peas" are actually kidney beans, cooked with the rice in coconut milk.
Menu questions
What is Hungaribbean food?
Hungaribbean is our name for the mix of Hungarian and Jamaican cooking we serve at Krisons. It brings together Hungarian comfort food like veal paprikash and nokedli with Jamaican favourites like jerk chicken, curry goat and rice and peas, cooked with fine dining technique.
Is the food very spicy?
Some of our Jamaican dishes carry scotch bonnet heat. The Hungarian dishes are rich and warming rather than hot. If you're not sure what to order, ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.
Where does your meat come from?
Our goat comes from OS Farming in Crewkerne, and we buy from local farms and suppliers wherever we can.
Do you have vegetarian options?
Yes, we have vegetarian options. Just mention it when you book and the kitchen will look after you.
Is this the full menu?
This is a sample of what we cook. The menu changes with the seasons and what our suppliers have, so dishes and prices may change.
Hungry yet?
We cook fresh for the bookings we have, so booking ahead is the best way to get a table.
